What is the difference between a food bank and a food pantry?

According to Feeding America’s website:

Food Banks

A food bank is a warehouse for millions of pounds of food and other products that go out to the community.

Food Pantries

A food pantry functions as the arms that reach out to that community directly. Some use mobile food pantries, which reach people in areas of high need.

Although they are supported greatly by the North Texas Food Bank, each Collin County food pantry is a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Only donations directly to the pantry itself will support their individual mission.
